LEWISTON, Maine (AP) -- A national consumer group that's pushing for a public health care option is focusing its lobbying campaign this spring on Maine, North Carolina and Utah.
Consumers Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports magazine, said it has been going door-to-door in the Lewiston-Auburn area to hear from people who have struggled to obtain affordable health care.
The Sun Journal said the group's Prescription for Change effort targeted the three states because they are home to lawmakers who could provide swing votes in Congress or sit on key committees.
In Maine, Prescription for Change is spending about five weeks in Lewiston-Auburn and hopes to mount a similar campaign in Aroostook County.
