Besides all the political intrigue over why Huntsman is taking the job and what it would mean for his future, there's the question of what happens here in Utah. Who will Gary Herbert pick to be his Lt. Governor is the first question, followed by who will run in the special election in 2010. Lots of names are being thrown out there to answer both questions. The names of some well known Republicans are being talked about to run mostly like against Herbert in 2010 because it will kind of sort of be an open race, even though Herbert will have a bit of incumbency to run on. It may also be the best chance for a Democrat to claim the office since Scott Matheson Sr. So fasten your political seat belts and get ready for a long ride with not one but two races for Governor in the span of just two years.
