SOUTH SALT LAKE -- In South Salt Lake firefighters stumbled upon a blaze after responding to a medical call.

They had just gotten to the TRAX station near 3300 South and 200 West around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when they noticed flames coming from a nearby building.

The fire was in an abandoned house, which is scheduled to be demolished. They were able to knock down the fire quickly.

Kevin Bowman of the South Salt Lake Fire Department said, "I know they're slated to be demoed (demolished) pretty quick, so I would imagine this will only speed the process up."

Firefighters didn't find anybody inside the house. Investigators believe squatters trying to stay warm likely started it.
