Richard Piatt ReportingMidterm elections are officially tomorrow, but the state elections office says more than 70-thousand Utahns have taken advantage of early voting. Even so, candidates are working hard to sway the hundreds who haven't voted yet.

It's the final push for candidates. They want your vote, so you'll be hearing and seeing a lot from them in the next 24 hours. If early voting is any indication, there's a lot of interest in the election this year in Utah.

That 73-thousand number we mentioned is about 10-percent of expected turnout in the state. Other states with early voting report only about four percent turnout before election day.

This is a stressful time for candidates. Not everyone on the ballot this year are career politicians. For example, many candidates for the Legislature are political newcomers, like those running for an open seat in this Bountiful Legislative District.

Democrat Beth Holbrook and Republican Paul Neueschwander are both putting in a lot of personal time to run, more than they originally thought they would.

Paul Neuenschwander, (R) Candidate For State Representative: "You just realize that you can just do your best effort and let the voters decide. But there have been some nervous times for sure."

Beth Holbrook, (D) Candidate Fro State Representative: "I want to really be able to say I did the best job as I could and I've talked to as many people as I could. We've done honk and waves, we've done mailers."

Lines have been long in early voting locations, but the process has gone smoothly across the state. Election officials are expecting lines tomorrow, so avoid peak times if you can.
