SEVIER COUNTY -- A 22-month-old girl nearly drowned Tuesday afternoon when she fell into a canal at her grandmother's house near Salina.
The girl's father found her in the canal. When he pulled her out, she was unresponsive and not breathing. While family members called 911, the father and the girl's grandmother began CPR.
The child was taken to Sevier Valley Hospital then flown by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center in serious condition.
The Sevier County Sheriff's Office says investigators don't yet know how the girl got into the canal. They say it was running at near capacity.
