OGDEN -- Weber County officials are looking for the person or persons responsible for dumping medical waste along a popular walking path.
The waste was found on Sunday by a woman on a walk near the 20th Street overpass near the city water ski pond.
A representative from the Weber County Health Department went and picked up the waste. He said the waste looked like it had been destroyed and was not intentionally left on the path, which is on the way to the landfill.
But an administrator for the nearby landfill says he doubts the waste was part of a load being brought in since that kind of waste is not accepted.
If it is discovered material was dumped intentionally, whoever is responsible could face a citation from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The Ogden Standard Examiner reports the waste included dialysis bags, face masks and used exam gloves.
