Gene Kennedy Reporting A man is stabbed in the parking lot of a Midvale motel. The victim says he doesn't know who stabbed him or why he was attacked.

In fact, the victim says he isn't even sure whether he was stabbed with a knife or a broken beer bottle.

He says six or seven men attacked him in the parking lot at 380 W. 7200 South. He then staggered up to his room on the second floor to deal with the wounds himself. He didn't call police.

Other visitors and tenants at the Discovery Inn called 911 when they heard all the commotion and glass breaking in the parking lot.

The victim has at least three stab wounds to his back and stomach. Police say he'll need stitches but will survive the injuries, and hopefully help investigators find whoever did this.

Sgt. Ken Yurgelon, Midvale Police Dept.: "We don't know right now. The victim has given conflicting stories. He says he went down to the parking lot to get something for a friend when he got jumped by several hispanic males who were in the parking lot."

But who they were and what caused the attack remains a mystery until the victim helps sort this out.

The victim did tell police that the attackers left the scene in a green pickup truck.
