Lt. Don Hutson with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office says 51-year-old Thomas M. Kennedy, Jr. of Londonderry, N.H., died at Intermountain Medical Center.
He and some friends were skiing at Alta Saturday afternoon. The friends went down a hill around 3:30 p.m., but Kennedy didn't follow. They reported him missing around 5 p.m.
Saturday evening, members of the ski patrol found him face down in the snow in the wooded Westward Ho area of Alta. They are unsure if he hit a tree.
