SALT LAKE CITY -- Crowds of people coming to the general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this weekend will give the state a financial boost.
More than 100,000 people typically come to downtown Salt Lake to take part in the LDS general conference.
Salt Lake Chamber President Lane Beattie says they pump a lot of money into the local economy. "It's absolutely a huge economic boon to the state of Utah," he said.
He says visitors are filling up hotels, eating out and shopping. Also, it happens twice a year.
"It gives us stability that is rather unique in this country," he said.
He says it's easy to forget the financial benefits of conference for Utah because it's a normal part of life here.
