DUCHESNE -- Local newspapers will no longer be approved reading material for inamtes at the Duchesne County jail.
The county's sheriff's office told the editors of the Uintah Basin Standard and the Vernal Express that inmates are no longer allowed to have subsciptions to their papers.
Sheriff Travis Mitchell told the Deseret News that allowing local papers creates a security issue. He says fights have broken out because of information people have gleaned from the papers.
The ban, which takes effect Wednesday, does not include statewide newspapers.
