HERRIMAN -- The girls basketball coach at Fort Herriman Middle School got a High 5 Friday morning.
One of Coach Michelle Rasmussen's players, Mykela Marsing, tipped us off to her good deeds, which include a team breakfast every Friday morning during basketball season. The breakfast promotes unity, and the girls who attend say they've learned lifelong lessons.
Marsing said, "She's one person I know who's changed my life and changed each and every one of these people's. She's given us a lot of time. She's just amazing and we love her."
The team describes Rasmussen as beautiful, superb, fantastic, amazing and awesome.
Rasmussen said, "It's really easy to give to these girls because they give back. They teach me as much as I teach them. I couldn't have asked for any better group of girls in the whole world."
"I hope they learn to love each other and I hope they learn to work together as a team," she added. "Basketball is a lot more than just basketball. It's about learning to help each other and help the people you love."
As part of the High 5 surprise, Rasmussen received an autographed picture and basketball from Matt Harpring of the Utah Jazz.
