SALT LAKE CITY -- A woman is in the hospital but doing better after she was hit by a drunk driver. The victim was moving out of her downtown condo early Thursday morning.

It was just after midnight outside the Broadway Tower condos at 200 East and 300 South when the woman was hit by the car.

Salt Lake City police Lt. James Tracy says the snow was coming down pretty heavily at the time.

He said, "At the time of the accident it was kind of snowing sideways on them. I don't know what visibility was like, but it was fairly poor."

Tracy says the woman suffered a serious head injury, as well as a number of broken bones. Police say she's doing a little better now, and her condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.

Officers say poor visibility wasn't the only factor. They gave the driver a field sobriety test and arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
