KSL Newsradio's Randall Jeppeson reportingSome Brigham Young University scholars say they've found some additional changes Joseph Smith made as he was re-translating the Bible and other religious texts.
BYU professor Kent Jackson says carefully scanning over the manuscripts, they found a number of clearer readings, and they learned a lot more about the text the LDS church refers to as the Book of Moses.
We found some Hebrew characteristics that suggest Joseph Smith was translating a text that originally was written in Hebrew."
Jackson says the changes are small but can make a difference such as this passage.
"'In the Garden of Eden gave I unto man his agency.' The prophet's correction on that actually reads 'In the Garden of Eden, man had agency,'" Jackson said.
Jackson says they didn't find anything that would change doctrine. But while most LDS members are familiar with 600 Bible verse clarifications put in footnotes, Jackson says Joseph Smith made over 3400 clarifications.
