SYRACUSE, Utah (AP) -- The need for customers to wait for a librarian to check out a book in Davis County is waning.
A $16,000 self-checkout system has been introduced at the Syracuse branch.
The system scans library cards, bar codes on books and asks if a receipt is wanted.
If all goes well, Davis County Library director Chris Sanford says self-checkout stations will be added to the other branches. Regular checkout will still be available.
