Sandra Yi Reporting A man was shot and killed then his body dumped on the front lawn of a Salt Lake City home. Police are still looking for the people who did it.
Early this morning police got a call of shots fired. Moments later, a woman who lives at that home, called 9-1-1 and said a body was on the front lawn.
Today a man had to wash away the blood stains in front of his house. Early this morning, someone had dumped a body on the lawn. The victim had been shot in the head.
We spoke with a 15-year old girl, who did not want to be identified; she says her mother made the gruesome discovery.
Victim's Friend: "All she seen was something fall on the front lawn, and she came out to see what it was. And when she seen him on the grass, she cried and cried, and she went inside and called 911."
She says the victim wasn't a stranger, but a close family friend. He was recently at the house making Halloween plans for his kids.
Victim's Friend: "He could never hurt a fly on the wall. Why would somebody do this to him?"
Police have few answers, but they say blood stains lead them to believe the victim was shot somewhere else. They found broken glass and blood near the home.
Lt. Dave Cracroft, Salt Lake City Police Dept.: "It's in a semi-circle pattern iin the street, and it appears they possibly drove right up to the driveway and up to the lawn."
Neighbors were alarmed by what happened.
Rebecca Lubbers, Neighbor: "It just made me feel bad, scared kind of. you don't think something like that is going to happen in your neighborhood, right next door to where you live."
This teenager is also in shock. She denies the victim was involved in a gang.
Victim's Friend: "It's just hard to see somebody that you truly love gone."
Police have not released the victim's name. They are looking for two cars that were seen after the shots were fired, but the descriptions are vague.
