EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (AP) -- Eagle Mountain City Councilwoman Linn Strouse has been chosen as interim mayor.

Strouse was selected yesterday during an emergency council meeting. She will serve for 30 days as the council seeks nominations for a full-time mayor.

Strouse nominated herself during the meeting yesterday. She said she was the best choice because of her two terms serving on the council. She said she doesn't plan to seek the job permanently.

Mayor Brian Olsen resigned Friday. He cited family and personal reasons.

Olsen's term just began in January. He resigned from the Utah Highway Patrol in June as he was investigated for falsely claiming he had a master's degree.
