MOAB, Utah (AP) -- The National Park Service will give $100,000 to help connect trails near Moab with Arches National Park.
The money will be used for work on the Lions Park Trail and Transportation Hub, which includes connections to Arches and the Old Spanish National Historic Trail. The project includes planning, interpretive signs and trail-side restoration.
Arches was one of five units in the park system to get money from the "Connect Trails to Parks" program, which promotes intersections between national trails and national parks.
The others were Acadia National Park in Maine, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park in Vermont, Scotts Bluff National Monument in Nebraska and Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.
