MOAB -- Search crews found the car and the young girl that drowned inside it in the Colorado River Monday night.

Searchers had been looking for the 5-year-old or the car since Friday afternoon when the car went off a road near Moab and sank into the river.

The girl was buckled in the back seat of the car and never got out. The girl's grandmother and her daughter escaped.

The Utah Highway Patrol says the girl was found thanks to the hard work of the Grand County Sheriff's Office, the National Parks Service, the Utah Department of Public Safety Dive Team, the Utah Highway Patrol, and several search and rescue volunteers.
