SALT LAKE CITY -- An overnight shooting near Westminster College has neighbors outraged.
At about 3:00 Sunday morning, witnesses say a carload of people pulled outside a home near 1800 South and 1300 East Westminster and started shooting at a man sitting on the front porch.
Mathew Lawler, a witness, said, "We saw the blast coming from the window, just coming up towards here. Then we heard the people from next door, and we heard them yelling, ‘He's been shot! He's been shot!'"
The victim was hit several times.
One of his oldest friends, Charles Ross, said he never thought this would happen. "He was going to the University of Utah to be an engineer, I believe. He keeps his nose pretty clean. He doesn't come out very often. And when he did, this happened," Ross said.
The victim is in serious but stable condition.
Police are looking for the shooters.
