OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Ogden officials say the Internal Revenue Service has plans for a 150,000-square foot office building on a 4-acre parcel in the city's downtown.
City business development manager Tom Christopulos says the city received a letter in January from a government contracting officer accepting the parcel the city proposed as a site for the building. He says the 5-story building could employ up to 500 IRS workers.
Christopulos says the next step is for the federal government's General Services Administration to prepare specifications for the building and solicit bids from contractors.
Christopulos says he is unsure when work on the new IRS building might begin.
The IRS already has three offices in Ogden.
IRS spokesman Bill Brunson says he is not aware of plans to build another facility in Ogden.
