Keith McCord ReportingBomb technicians get called out to disarm explosive devices every now and then, but today they no doubt had a first.

About 11:30 this morning, a maintenance worker was doing a routine cleaning of a portable toilet, but it was anything but routine! It sits right next to the wall of a house that's being remodeled. The worker said he noticed something unusual in the vacuum hose that he was using to clean the toilet. He thought it looked like a pipe bomb so he called 9-1-1.

The Unified Fire Authority responded and the bomb technicians retrieved the device. They determined that it did have explosives in it. They evacuated the construction workers and detonated it safely.

Capt. Karen Minchow, Unified Fire Authority: "It's certainly not a joke, people could be seriously injured by that and we have to take it very seriously because extensive damage. People could be injured severely if they were to use that or be within a few hundred yards range; depending on how large the device is they could be seriously injured."

The pipe bomb was about six inches long.

There are no suspects at this time, but the investigation is continuing.

Construction workers were back at work a couple of hours later.
