SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Two Republican state lawmakers have set up a Web site they say is dedicated to eliminating wasteful spending in state government.
Rep. John Dougall, R-Highland, and Sen. Stephen Urquhart, R-St. George, have set up a blog called Utahwastebuster.com. The site solicits comments from the public about what programs might be considered pork.
The Web site also encourages readers to comment on posts by lawmakers and to vote in online polls about government spending.
Utah has been hit hard by a global economic crisis and lawmakers are considering slashing every state agency's budget by up to 15 percent this year.
Dougall says the Web site will help him identify where tax money is being wasted so he'll know what programs to target.
