A Maryland man and more than a dozen of his friends have left Utah with a sour taste after someone broke into their RVs and got away with more than $20,000 in goods.
Just about every year Alex Markoff, who runs a summer and adventure camp in the Washington D.C. area, brings his workers to Utah for a winter trip.
This year, the group toured Southern Utah. Last Thursday, they decided to catch a movie in Sugarhouse near 2200 South and Highland drive and parked their two RVs in the parking lot.
When they returned, they found someone had broken in and stolen several laptops, iPods, luggage, a cell phone charger were gone.
Markoff says, "On my computer, I had the last five years worth of family pictures on it, pictures of us building our house."
Markoff says they'll think twice before returning to Utah. He says only one member of his group had been the victim of burglary before and, ironically, that was in Utah as well. He's offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Markoff is asking any one who may have witnessed the crime to call him directly at 240-793-4666. Police say they're checking local surveillance tapes for any information that might help lead to a suspect.
