KSL Newsradio's Andrew Adams reportingGood news for people that use natural gas to heat their homes, as Questar looks to drop rates. There also may be good news for those who use an alternative energy source, depending on what it is.
At Jardine Petroleum in North Salt Lake, sales manager Steve Paskett says they've been busy with folks looking to fuel up for the winter.
"We do have a lot of customers who will fill up their tanks in the summertime," said Paskett. "So when the prices in the winter time are higher then it saves them money at that time."
"The good news for the customers," said Senior Vice-President Doug Hyer, "they're probably going to see propane rates this year down probably 15% to 18% over what they were a year ago."
Hyer says it's a buyer's market for both propane and home heating oil right now. People that use electricity in the winter, however, aren't so lucky. Rocky Mountain Power has a rate increase planned for December, provided the Public Service Commission gives the okay.
