(KSL News) -- A judge has just sentenced a man to 365 days in jail for dumping and desecrating a friend's body last year.
Amelia Sorich died after she was injected with a mixture of cocaine and heroin at a party. Jasen Calacino and MaCall Aubrey Petersen dumped her body in the foothills near Bountiful.
Along with the one year in jail, Calacino was sentenced to 36 months probation.
Kathryn Sorich/Victim's Mother: "I feel bad that he has to go to jail, I feel worse that I don't have my daughter at home."
Pier Calacino, Jasen's Father: "We can understand how the Sorich's feel because we lost a 19 year old daughter as well... ...we understand how they feel."
MaCall Petersen pleaded guilty to the charges against her, and was sentenced to up to six years in prison.
Amelia's birthday was this past Saturday. She would have been 20 years old.
