(KSL News) The Utah Supreme Court will hear arguments about a 20-year-old case for convicted killer Ronnie Lee Gardner.

A federal judge is asking the Utah Supreme Court to clarify what rules were in effect 15 years ago regarding challenges to jury instruction in Gardner's trial.

During a court hearing back in April 1985, an accomplice slipped Gardner a gun. He then went on a shooting spree, killing a court bailiff and an attorney.

He was later shot and captured.
