(KSL News) An improper lane change led a Utah Highway Patrol trooper to 62 pounds of marijuana.
The trooper pulled over Michael Scholz, 21, on Jan. 8 on eastbound I-80 near the Salt Lake/Tooele county line. Scholz was stopped because he failed to signal when changing lanes.
When the trooper approached the man, he seemed nervous and uneasy.
When the trooper caught the scent of marijuana coming from the car, he asked Scholz and his girlfriend, Sina Walker, 21, to get out of the vehicle.
The trooper then sent in his K-9. The search turned up garbage bags filled with vacuum sealed bags of marijuana.
Both Scholz and Walker were arrested on drug charges.
