REXBURG, Idaho (AP) -- Administrators at Brigham Young University-Idaho say they are embarking on a new plan to expand enrollment, possibly as high as 15,000 students by 2015.
Leaders at the Rexburg-based university say the expansion will take place in phases, starting in the fall of 2010 with the goal of adding 900 full-time students per semester.
The expansion is expected to continue until 2015. Enrollment at the school is now capped at 11,600 students.
Henry Eyring, vice president of advancement, says the board has already approved increasing the enrollment cap to 12,500 students.
He anticipates that much of the student growth will be through the university's online learning program. Campus officials say they are not planning any major additions of new buildings to accommodate future student growth.
