PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Jonathan Tavernari scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Brigham Young to an 85-64 win over Western Oregon Tuesday night.

Western Oregon (6-5) took an early 11-0 lead, but the Cougars (12-2), led by Tavernari's 10 points, were able to cut the deficit to 23-19 with 11:05 remaining in the half.

Following a basket by Stanley Ratcliff that pushed the Wolves' lead to 25-19, BYU ran off 17 straight points to take a 36-25 lead before the half.

Mike McLaughlin's basket about a minute into the second half cut the Cougars' lead to 44-37, but that was as close as the Wolves could get. BYU scored seven straight, including a one-handed dunk by Tavernari off an alley-oop pass by Jimmer Fredette, to take a 51-37 advantage.

Fredette scored 13 while Lee Cummard and Lamont Morgan, Jr. each scored 12 for BYU.

Travis Kuhns led the Wolves with 15.
