A Lehi woman spent her holidays giving birth and then going to jail.

According to the Deseret News, when the mother, 28-year-old Lindsay Farrer, was getting ready to give birth at the hospital, court documents say her blood tests showed she had been using meth. So police were called.

American Fork police Sgt. Gregg Ludlow says she later admitted to using meth, marijuana and Xanax while pregnant.

"It's very dangerous, as well as some of the lasting effects that these kids can end up experiencing for the rest of their lives," Ludlow said.

After giving birth, Farrer was charged with felony child endangerment and taken to jail. Her newborn and another child were put in state custody.
