PARK CITY — A man recently released from prison after serving time for shooting and killing a man in Ogden was arrested Thursday and accused of knocking out a co-worker's two front teeth.
Isaac Daniel Duran, 33, was booked into the Summit County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury.
The victim told the Summit County Sheriff's Office that he got into an argument with Duran, a co-worker, who then punched him in the mouth, a police booking affidavit states.
A sheriff's deputy who responded to the scene "observed two missing top front teeth and both lips were swollen and cut. The two top teeth were dislodged from the punch," according to the affidavit.
When police talked to Duran, he said that at one point during the argument he "felt threatened that he would be attacked and punched the complainant one time in the mouth. The subject had a bandage on his hand and bloodstains on his clothes," the affidavit states.
The sheriff's office, however, said "Isaac has demonstrated very violent behavior unwarranted for the circumstances."
Duran was paroled from the Utah State Prison in December. He was sentenced in 2016 to four concurrent prison terms — two sentences of zero to five years and two terms of one to 15 years — after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the gang-related death of 34-year-old Steven Ferguson in February of 2015.
