Elder Henry B. Eyring — Proved and strengthened in Christ

Elder Henry B. Eyring, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, spoke about how he struggled to learn physics and mathematics in college, feeling overwhelmed and thinking the knowledge was beyond his grasp. However, he later learned that struggle was a gift."He was teaching me that with his help, I could do things that seemed impossible if I had the faith that he would be there to help me," Elder Eyring said. That gift was the Lord working to "prove and strengthen him," he said.

Sister Andrea Muñoz Spannaus — Prophets of God

Sister Andrea M. Spannaus, second counselor in the Young Women General Presidency, urged youth to seek personal confirmation that modern prophets are chosen by God to speak his will.She told the story from the Old Testament of the woman of Shunem who welcomed the prophet Elisha into her home. Sister Spannaus taught that disciples today can likewise open their hearts and minds to prophetic counsel.

Elder D. Todd Christofferson — Look to God and live

Elder D. Todd Christofferson, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, began by sharing the story of a devastating bus accident in the country of Lesotho that claimed 15 lives, including those of several young women and local leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors found comfort in faith, music, scripture and prayer, he said. One 17-year-old said, "Jesus Christ loves us and is with us, even though our hearts hurt."At the funeral service, a church leader made a reference to Alma's counsel to his son Helaman in the Book of Mormon: "Look to God and live."

Just as the Israelites were healed by looking to the brass serpent, individuals today can find spiritual healing through Christ's Atonement, he explained."It is only by looking to God that individuals, families and even nations can flourish," Elder Christofferson said.He went on to explain that prosperity doesn't only mean material success, but rather the blessings, guidance and strength that come from following God.He emphasized that looking to God means making him our highest priority and aligning our actions with his commandments, including those in the scriptures and other church publications like "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" and "For the Strength of Youth." These resources, he explained, offer guidance on living a Christ-centered life, including counsel on chastity, respect for the body and moral decision-making.Elder Christofferson said disobedience can distance us from God, but repentance can restore that divine connection.

Elder Peter M. Johnson — The power of ministering to the one

Elder Peter M. Johnson of the Seventy emphasized the power of "ministering to the one." He explained how it can be hard to find answers in a world full of "dizzying distractions," but "we help one another become devoted disciples as we minister to the one in ways that lead to the house of the Lord."He spoke of the New Testament story of the Samaritan woman who, feeling judged, chose to go to the well alone in the hottest part of the day. There, she met Jesus and "was one of the first to whom Jesus Christ declared he was the Messiah. To him, this woman was a daughter of God," Elder Johnson said.

He said he felt discouraged, angry, doubtful and confused at this information, but his mission companion continued to minister to him with patience, kindness and love.Eventually, Elder Johnson prayed and felt the love of God, who reminded him he was a beloved child of God, and the Holy Ghost confirmed to him the truth of the gospel.

Elder Ulisses Soares, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, likened the recent foundation reinforcement of the Salt Lake Temple to the personal spiritual strengthening each disciple needs in Jesus Christ.Drawing from President Russell M. Nelson's counsel to examine the firmness of one's own foundation, Elder Soares taught that temperance, self-control and moderation are key elements in preventing "spiritual erosion."

Elder James E. Evanson — Go and do likewise

Echoing the last line of "Amazing Grace" that President Jeffrey R. Holland quoted during the previous address, Elder James E. Evanson, of the Seventy, began with the story of Jesus curing a blind man. He cited this as an example of Christ's ministry and reminded the audience of the instruction to go and do likewise.He then mentioned missionaries, specifically honoring service missionaries as examples of three things:

Service opens hearts to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Service allows everyone to minister, no matter their circumstances.

Service brings the power of Jesus Christ into our lives.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland — 'And now I see'

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles started off the Sunday morning session sharing the story in John when Jesus Christ made a blind man see by spitting into the dirt and applying the mixture to the blind man's eyes.Twice in the scriptures, the Savior's action was referred to as an "anointing" that would be completed with washing, Elder Holland said."The instruments the Creator of heaven and earth used to provide this miracle: spit and a handful of dirt! These very unlikely ingredients declare that God can bless us by whatever method he chooses," he said.
