WANSHIP, Summit County — Eastbound I-80 was temporarily closed near Wanship in Summit County due to a crash involving hazardous material on Monday afternoon, transportation officials say.
Utah Highway Patrol officials say a traffic control truck carrying paint was rear-ended by a semitruck that was pulling a flatbed trailer in the eastbound lanes of the freeway, just north of Wanship.
There were no injuries, but close to 500 gallons of paint spilled onto the freeway, which forced the interstate to be closed while it was cleaned, according to UHP.
The right lane reopened by about 7 p.m., and the traffic queue was cleared, officials said. The left lane was expected to remain closed overnight with cleanup work continuing Tuesday morning.
