SALT LAKE CITY — A motorcyclist was killed after a driver ran a stop sign Sunday night, police said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 2100 South and 400 East about 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to a Salt Lake City Police Department press release issued Monday. Police believe a driver ran a stop sign and struck the motorcyclist.

"When officers arrived, they found a motorcyclist critically injured," the release said. "Paramedics took the 67-year-old man to the hospital, where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin."

Police said the driver left the scene without speaking to officers, though it's unclear if police have identified a suspect.

Initial information came from a post from the department at 1:22 a.m. Monday, but the press release clarified that the collision occurred Sunday night.

More information was not immediately available.
