ST. GEORGE — Months after a suspicious travel story led to the recovery of a distributable amount of marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms, a Washington County couple arrested during the traffic stop appeared for sentencing.

In April, Kay Billie Sorrels, 43, appeared at 5th District Court in St. George for sentencing after pleading guilty to multiple charges. She was sentenced on a second-degree felony charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, which was reduced to a third-degree felony.

The remaining charges, including third-degree felony possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia charges, were dismissed as part of a settlement agreement.

Sorrels' husband, Kibb Vern Jones, 46, appeared in court in March, when he was sentenced to misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia charges, while both felony distribution charges were dismissed under the terms of a plea agreement.
