OREM — A pair of sweeps had two familiar names back on top of of the 3A state cheer meet.

Morgan swept all three categories of show, cheer and dance to repeat as 3A all-girls champions during Wednesday's Utah High School Activities Association competitive cheer championships at the UCCU Center at Utah Valley University.

Juab added a sweep of its own to clinch a third straight coed championship, dating back to the sanctioning of the sport in 2023 when coed cheer was split and the all-girl competition was combined with 4A.

"There's always pressure, and we always worry about every team out there, but this team is great," said Morgan coach Sue Ann Kelsey, who was named 3A coach of the year. "They're super talented, but also really sweet and great girls.

"They're incredibly talented, but they also work hard and don't stop working. They're phenomenal. ... The seniors set a great example, and the other girls bought right into it. This team has something special.

The Trojans held off Richfield in all-girls after the Wildcats took second in all three disciplines. Grantsville, South Summit and Canyon View rounded out the top five.

The Wasps topped North Sanpete in all three categories for a third consecutive title, followed by Manti, Emery and Ben Lomond in the overall standings.

In 2A, North Summit swept all three categories to repeat as state all-girls champions with a third title overall (1A and 2A were combined during the UHSAA's inaugural season of sanctioned competition in 2023).

Beaver finished first in sideline/timeout cheer and show to clinch the Beavers' second-straight coed title. Gunnison Valley was first in sideline/timeout dance to finish second overall.

In 1A, Rich defended its 1A all-girls championship with another sweep of all three categories ahead of Monticello and Panguitch.

Piute edged Tintic to complete a run of back-to-back coed titles.
