MINNEAPOLIS — Rondel Walker scored 14 points and undefeated North Texas led for most of the way and held off Minnesota for a 54-51 victory. Dawson Garcia scored six points during an 8-2 surge to pull Minnesota to 52-51 with 30 seconds left. Following a North Texas timeout with 3 seconds to go, Brenen Lorient added a dunk and Lu'Cye Patterson's midcourt heave bounced off the backboard. Garcia shot 6 of 9 from the field, made all 10 of his free throws and finished with 24 points to lead Minnesota (2-1).
