SALT LAKE CITY — A man already facing charges accusing him of touching two girls inappropriately in separate incidents in local stores now faces additional charges after police say child sex abuse material was found on his phone.

Nicholas Toftemark, 24, who police say is originally from Texas and now lives in Salt Lake City, was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; and obstruction of justice, a class A misdemeanor.

Toftemark is accused of touching the buttocks of an 11-year-old at a Target store in Salt Lake City on June 9. He told the girl she had something on her butt and then acted as if he was swiping it off, the charges state.

He was charged in that case in 3rd District Court with sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.

He was also charged on Jan. 8 with forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony, in connection with a separate incident. In that case, Toftemark was at a Walmart in Salt Lake City on Aug. 23 when he grabbed the buttocks of a 15-year-old girl twice, according to charging documents. A warrant for his arrest in that case had remained outstanding until his arrest in June.

Salt Lake police served a search warrant on Toftemark's phone after his last arrest and found several videos that contained child sex abuse material, according to charging documents filed Monday. Investigators say Toftemark also attempted to hide those videos from police.

"While incarcerated at the Salt Lake County Jail, Toftemark called his twin sister … and asked her to contact AT&T and have his phone shut off, in hopes that images could not be located," the charges state.
