WASHINGTON — John Carlson scored the go-ahead goal with 11:31 left to help the Washington Capitals potentially save their season by beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2. Charlie Lindgren made 32 saves in another strong performance when his team needed him, while Sonny Milano scored twice and Nic Dowd added an insurance goal in the final minutes. The Capitals winning for just the second time in nine games at least temporarily move into the second and final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Anthony Duclair and Brandon Hagel scored for the Lightning who are locked into the East's first wild card.
