SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police are still sorting out what prompted a fight at a funeral home Tuesday that led to six people being injured, including one person who suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police responded to the Neil O'Donnell Funeral Home, 372 E. 100 South, about 1:30 p.m. on a report of a fight. Detectives say several dozen people were gathered at the funeral home for a viewing when a fight started outside the building. What started the fight was still under investigation Wednesday.
"The fight escalated, which resulted in multiple people being stabbed," police said on Wednesday.
Others were injured during the scuffle but not stabbed, police said. A total of five men and one teenage boy were treated at local hospitals for injuries. The victims are 17, 21, 25, 30, 32 and 35 years old. Four of those victims were found at the scene. Two others were located in a car that sped away from the scene and was stopped by police officers nearby.
Police did not have details on Wednesday as to how many were stabbed or which victim suffered critical injuries. At least two people have since been released from the hospital.
As of Wednesday, no arrests had been made.
