MAGNA — A 7-year-old girl was hit by a car driven by a Unified police officer in Magna on Friday.

Unified police said an officer was driving west on Main Street near Buccaneer Drive about 4 p.m. when the girl ran into the road. The officer struck the girl with the car's bumper, police said.

The girl was alert on scene, but was taken to Primary Children's Hospital as a precautionary measure, Unified Police Sgt. Aymee Race said. The child is in good condition and has road rash and some swelling to her cheeks and eyes.

West Valley police are investigating the crash.

Correction: A previous version incorrectly spelled Aymee Race as Aymee Rice.
