SALT LAKE CITY — The mother of a man once charged with running a drug distribution ring is facing charges of operating a crack house.

Jessica Lynn Jacobs, 47, of Salt Lake City, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with operating a clandestine lab, and three counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, second-degree felonies; another count of drug possession with intent to distribute and two counts of child endangerment, third-degree felonies; possession of drug paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor; and three driving violations.

On Sept. 13, Jacobs was pulled over by police near 400 North and 900 West. Officers say Jacobs' driver's license was suspended and the vehicle did not have a valid registration.

Police reported finding methamphetamine, crack cocaine and THC in addition to drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Jacobs told police that "she just finished cooking the crack cocaine in her residence, where her 8-year-old and 16-year-old children reside," according to charging documents.

Police then searched her house and reported finding more drugs.

"Jacobs also showed officers where she makes the crack cocaine and walked officers through the method she uses to cook," the charges state.

Jacobs' arrest in September came less than four months after she was charged in 3rd District Court with three counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, a second-degree felony; and child endangerment, a third-degree felony. In that case, the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force served a search warrant at Jacobs' home, 539 N. Bright Court, in the Salt Lake Fairpark neighborhood, on Sept. 26, 2022, and seized multiple drugs. A motion was filed by the state on Tuesday, however, for the case to be dismissed and Jacobs released from jail.

She was also charged with obstruction of justice in 2019 and accused of interfering with an investigation into a large-scale drug ring that police say was headed up by her 19-year-old son. A pretrial conference in that case is scheduled for 22.

N'twydamala Christian Cook, 23, was charged in 2019 in 3rd District Court with being involved in a drug criminal enterprise and drug distribution following a 14-month investigation into a large-scale ring, in which Cook sold multiple types of narcotics, firearms and fraudulent driver's licenses, according to police. Investigators alleged after Cook's arrest that he gave his mother constant instructions from jail to deliver to other members of the drug ring and had her log out of his social media accounts allegedly used to sell his products.

Cook pleaded guilty to six of 11 charges and was sentenced to a year in jail in 2022 and placed on three years of probation. He served approximately eight months before being released, according to court records.
