SANTAQUIN — A Spanish Fork elementary school janitor accused of sexually abusing two students was charged Friday with sexually abusing a child at another school seven years ago.

Adrian Villar, 65, of Santaquin, is charged in 4th District Court with aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony; and lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor. He was arrested Monday.

Villar is already facing charges filed in 2018 of two counts of aggravated sex abuse of a child, a first-degree felony; and lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor. He is accused of inappropriately touching two boys at Sierra Bonita Elementary School in Spanish Fork in 2017. That criminal case is still ongoing due to numerous delays. The next court hearing is scheduled Jan. 8.

In his new case, Villar is accused of abusing a young girl at Santaquin Elementary School about seven years ago, not long after leaving Sierra Bonita and before the alleged abuse at that school was reported.

The investigation began in November when a girl told police that when she was 7 and attending Santaquin Elementary, the school janitor took her to a closet at the school and exposed himself, according to a police booking affidavit.

"The victim disclosed that one day she left the lunchroom to go to the bathroom when (Villar) called her over and told her to follow him. The victim complied and said (he) took her into a supply closet, then shut and locked the door," according to charging documents. "He threatened that if she made any noise, she would get hurt."

Investigators learned Villar was a janitor during the 2017-18 school year at Santaquin Elementary School and had joined the staff after previously working at Sierra Bonita Elementary. He was not arrested for the alleged abuse at Sierra Bonita until May of 2018.

During a photo lineup, the girl identified Villar as the man who assaulted her, the affidavit states.

"Based on the information obtained through records checks, interviews, and photo lineups, I have successfully established probable cause indicating that Adrian Villar, employed as a janitor at Santaquin Elementary, is the individual identified by the victim in this case," the arresting officer wrote in the affidavit.
