ENGLAND — I'm pretty sure there's an old "Far Side" cartoon that shows a majestic deer leaping over a log in the woods, but its antlers are about to smack right into a branch overhead. Visuals like these make us wonder about the unseen bloopers of the animal kingdom.
Do bears slip on ice? Do bobcats tumble down hillsides? Do owls cough up mouse bones? Wait, we know that last one happens. But the other two are still up for debate.
One of my family's all-time favorite viral videos is "Cat Jump Fail with Music." Has there ever been a more perfect blend of catchy music and animal incompetence?
This little clip I'm about to share is more low-key than "Cat Jump Fail with Music." There's no soundtrack with AWOLNATION and the stakes are lower. But it's still amusing to see that an animal as infamously agile as a cat still has moments of bellyflopping failure.
According to the video's description, this nocturnal scene unfolded in Swindon, England.
"We have a Ring camera at our front door," explains the user who posted the video. "We noticed when we woke that there was a notification on our doorbell that it had detected someone. When we looked at the video, we saw a cat trying to get onto our porch roof from the bin. The bin was wet, so the cat was not successful in reaching the roof and just fell to the floor after slipping."
Yep, that pretty well sums it up. And watching cats flop through the air like a not-so-flying-squirrel never gets old.
