OREM — Utah Valley women's volleyball emerged victorious after 3-0 sweep over Southern Utah in Orem Thursday night.

The Wolverines fought hard for the win and took home the victory, sweeping the Thunderbirds 25-20, 25-15, 25-16 in a three-set match.

Utah Valley took the first set, but not without some challenges.

Southern Utah kept the game close with 13 tied scores, and even took the lead twice throughout the set. A kill by Caleigh Vagana gave Utah Valley the momentum it needed to go on a 4-0 scoring run. The Wolverines closed out the set with a 25-20 win after an attack error from the Thunderbirds.

The second set started with a similar feel to that of the first, but it very quickly turned for Utah Valley with a 5-point lead for an early 10-5 score. The Wolverines maintained their lead for the rest of the set and closed it out 25-15 with a kill from Avery Shewell, who contributed eight kills in the win.

The Wolverines did not leave the third set up to chance and went on a 4-0 scoring run to take another 5-point lead to eventually catapult Utah Valley to take the set 25-16. Tori Ellis had six of her 12 kills in the final set for the Wolverines, which contributed to the teams' 46 kills overall.

Utah Valley will welcome Utah Tech to Orem for their final regular season game Saturday.
