WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley man is accused of stabbing and using a Taser on his neighbor during a heated argument over his neighbor's barking dogs.
Luigui Lujan, 28, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, a second-degree felony.
On Monday, police were called to the area of 4000 S. Redwood Road on a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived to find Lujan holding a towel on the chest of his neighbor who was "covered in blood," according to charging documents.
Detectives learned that Lujan and his neighbor "have been in an ongoing argument over the noise that (the neighbor's) dogs cause, which upsets Lujan because he works nights," the charges state.
When the neighbor arrived home on Monday, Lujan asked to speak to him about the noise.
"Their conversation turned into a heated argument," according to the charges.
The neighbor turned away and began walking to his apartment when Lujan allegedly grabbed him from behind, placed him in a headlock "and used a Taser" on his neck. The neighbor was able to take the Taser away but "Lujan then pulled out a knife and stabbed (the neighbor) in his chest, in the back of (his) left leg, and on his neck," the charges state. "Lujan then got up and continued to yell at (the neighbor) before retrieving a towel."
Police say the neighbor was treated at a local hospital for his injuries and was later released.
Prosecutors have requested Lujan be held in the Salt Lake County Jail without bail pending trial.
