SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police officers are asking the public for help in identifying a person who might be involved with Monday's suspicious item investigation.

Salt Lake police released two photos Wednesday as part of the Hazardous Devices Unit's investigation to identify the person involved in a suspicious item that was dropped off at 20 W. 200 South.

The incident occurred at 7:47 a.m. Monday when a person reported a suspicious item that was later determined to be an organic agricultural product. The man in the photo was seen leaving the area on foot and police are trying to identify him.

Detectives are asking for citizens to check their security camera footage to see if they saw the person approaching the U.S. Bank Tower at 170 S. Main from 6-7 a.m. on Monday. Officers are hoping to build a timeline of the person's movements to aid in the investigation.

The man's height, age and weight are not known, but he was wearing gray pants, a blue jacket, dark shoes, orange gloves, a tan hat and a black backpack.

Any information should be reported to the department by calling 801-799-3000 and referencing case number 23-216673.
