SALT LAKE CITY — Family members of a man shot and killed in a downtown Salt Lake City parking lot over the weekend are calling on anyone with information to come forward.

Just after 4 a.m. Sunday, 35-year-old Anetone Simanu was shot and killed in a parking lot at between Pierpont Avenue and 300 South. Salt Lake City police say the first arriving officers found a "a large and chaotic scene" with members of the public attempting lifesaving measures on Simanu.

Two men, both 33, were arrested for investigation of interfering with an arrest and disorderly conduct. Both men allegedly crossed the yellow tape marking the crime scene multiple times despite being told by officers to stay back, according to police booking affidavits. The alleged gunman had not been arrested as of Tuesday.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact them at 801-799-3000.

On social media, several of Simanu's relatives have also made posts encouraging people to come forward while using the hashtag #justicefortone.

"I never am the type to ask for anyone's help especially on social media, but today I am. I am asking for the public's help today in helping my family share this post with everyone you know who could have any information about a senseless act that occurred … early Sunday morning that took my brother's life. If you or know of anyone who may have hung out at this location, I am pleading with you to come forward with any information in helping my family during this tragedy," Ala Lutui posted on Facebook while saying the fatal confrontation was "over a stupid disagreement" and that the family "will not rest" until the alleged gunman is found.

"Do the right thing — Come forward if you have any info regarding the murder of my lil cousin," another family member posted.

"See something, say something, do something. My family is mourning the loss of our cousin Anetone Simanu. If you were there, please come forward in helping us find justice," a third person posted.
