CONNECTICUT — I have never attempted a backflip on a jet ski because I didn't know it was possible. Frankly, I'm just lucky to stay upright when I'm riding. My lack of coordination and history of poor decision-making are a recipe for trouble, and I've ended up in the water many times.
But it seems from this video that backflips are actually quite easy:
From my analysis, you just need to create some waves and you're good to go. And it probably helps to look at the camera while you're doing your flips, since this guy uses that technique and it goes so well for him.
The other possibility, of course, is that backflips on a jet ski are difficult to execute. This guy might just be really skilled and is making it look easy. After all, he is a professional rider whose brand is called "Showtime Freestyle," and he's riding a 1200 cc custom-built jet ski.
So I think this second option is the more likely conclusion. Not only is this dude better than I'll ever be, but if I attempted a backflip I'd be dunked in the blink of an eye. But a triple backflip? That might be easier.
