SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City homicide detectives are investigating the death of an unidentified person whose body was recovered from a canal Friday afternoon.
The police department received information at 1:28 p.m. that there was a possible body in a canal near 2650 W. 300 South. Salt Lake County utility workers discovered the body while clearing debris from the canal. Members of the fire department's Swift Water Rescue Team recovered the body while police officers processed the scene and gathered evidence.
The Salt Lake Medical Examiner's Officer will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death and identity of the deceased person.
According to a press release, the homicide detectives have not found any signs of foul play, but they're still working to determine if a crime occurred.
No other information about the body was immediately available Friday afternoon.
In June, a body discovered in the Jordan River surplus canal near 2535 W. 500 South was determined to be a missing Millcreek man.
